Introduced in 2016 at the 62nd ICoMST in Thailand were awards funded by the International journal Meat Science for the best oral and poster papers presented by young scientists (must be no older than 35 at the time of the conference).  The awards are offered every second year.

Meat Science will provide the following prizes to be judged by panels representing the editorial team of the journal.

  1. Best oral presentation – USD750
  2. Runner up oral presentation – USD500
  3. Best poster presentation –USD450
  4. Runner up poster presentation – USD300

Eligible young scientists are to  register for the awards when they submit their paper for the conference at which time they must also provide details of their birth date.  The awards will be presented to the successful candidates at the Congress Dinner.

Poster Guidelines

The Poster Guidelines for the posters that are being presented at the conference are to be A0 paper size and portrait orientation, the dimensions are 1189mm (h) x 849 mm (w).

Call for Short Papers is Now Closed

Short paper submission is now closed for the 64th International Congress of Meat Science and Technology, which will be held in Melbourne, Australia on 12th – 17th August 2018. 

Submission Process

The submission process for ICoMST 2018 will be through an online submission portal. Submitters are requested to create an account and submit a short paper for review according to the guidelines set out on this page.

Important Dates

  • Opening of submission: 11 December 2017
  • Closing date for submission: 8 April 2018 now extended to Monday 16 April 2018 23:59 AEST
  • Notification of acceptance: 23 May 2018
  • Deadline for early registration: 21 May 2018
  • Conference dates: 12 – 17 August 2018

Presentation Format

A short paper can be submitted for presentation at the conference as one or both of the following:

  • Poster Presentation
  • Oral or Poster Presentation

Short Paper Submissions

  • Submissions cannot be longer than two pages and must adhere to the template formatting. Click here for template.
  • The Scientific Committee may at its discretion move an accepted submission into another presentation category to ensure the continuity of the conference programme.
  • Oral presentations will be 8 minutes long with 2 minutes for Q&A.
  • Posters must be A0 in size and in portrait orientation. Posters should be professionally printed.  Posters should not be mounted on a rigid backing as they will be displayed on poster display boards
  • Please note that all expenses for the design, printing etc. of the poster are the responsibility of the presenters
  • Poster presenters will be expected to be available during the allocated Poster Session time on the conference programme

Important:

  • An author may present a maximum of two short papers at ICoMST 2018.
  • Presenting authors must register to attend the conference in order for the paper to be accepted
  • Accepted short papers may be designated as oral or poster presentations by the Scientific Committee.
  • Unless otherwise informed, papers will be published in the congress handbook as well as the DigICoMST Pages (http://icomst-proceedings.helsinki.fi/)

Theme

Short papers must be submitted under one of the conference themes.  The only language of the conference is English and all short papers must be submitted in that language.

Submissions not formatted to the following standards will not be accepted.

Submission Guidelines

The system will ask you to input the following details:

  • Title of the short paper (word limit is 20)
  • Presentation type (Oral or Poster, Poster)
  • Name, affiliation, and job title of lead and corresponding author
  • Name, affiliation, and job title of co-author(s)
  • Indicate the presenting author - please note presenting author must register to attend the conference
  • Select at least one keyword from the list provided which corresponds with your short paper
  • Short papers can be a maximum of two pages.
